I ONCE WAS A GODDESS
by Ellen Gennaro
I once was a goddess through heavens I’d fly
Past sparkling stars in midnight blue skies
On the back of a dragon to Earth I first came
When villains were heroes and anarchy reigned
I once was a goddess who helped those in need
My following grew with the tales of my deeds
When famine and fear spread out through the land
I’d bring forth the harvest with the wave of my hand
The winds of change keep blowing
I hear their sirens’ song
The winds of change keep blowing
They carry me along
I once was a goddess who’d answer each call
Altars were built I was worshipped by all
I’d appear as dolphin, a rainbow, a dove
I was endlessly happy cherished and loved
The winds of change keep blowing
I hear their sirens’ song
The winds of change keep blowing
They carry me along
I once was a goddess with power and glory
Now my temples are ruins and I’m just a story
My work here is over I must take my leave
For worlds where I’m wanted and people believe
For worlds where I’m wanted and people believe
The winds of change are blowing
The winds of change are blowing
The winds of change are blowing
It’s time I move on
